Hallo Dav.

Excuse me for answering in english.

YES it`s worth the effort.
It`s a hell of a job.
I did it on all my Staggerwing repaints , that was easy, just changing the colors , not actually painting.

I did the flaps in my P51 Damn Yankee , I had to paint all the frames by hand.

Now I am working on P51 Suzy Q ( repaint jopint venture between Gunnar van der Meeren and me).

We have to make 120 tiny drawings for the aillerons.

Hi Dav.

Did you try the flaps I made for you?
I did not made them by hand.
Just a trick with my paint-program.

I think the color is OK for your repaint

Hi Dave,

Here is a little explanation.

When you convert the flaps (with Flygraphics) to a BMP, Flygraphic
will create a BMP AND a txt file.
This text file contains information about the number of frames, the BMS is made of.

When you have changed the BMP you have to convert it back to PGB again.

When you want th conver the BMP to PBG (NOT PBM) the BMP must be in the same folder as the TXT file.
Flygraphics needs this TXT file to make a good working PBG/ATC combination.

Your screenshot is showing the flap-file converted to a PBM ,showing all positions in one time.

So in a nutshell:

PBG converted to BMP gives BMP + TXT-file.

To convert to PBG ,Flygraphics needs the BMP ANT TXT-file.
Then Flygraphics produces an new set existing of PBG and ACT.

Thats all

Regards

Leen

Hi Dav.

Let me try to explain it again.

In a repaint we use three different types of files.

TIF for the outside of the 3D model .

PBM files for the views and panels.
Each PBM file comes with a ACM file , for example yourfile. PBM comes always with a yourfile.ACM.

PBG files for the moving parts such as flaps, aillerons, knobs, switches and gauges.
A PBG has also it`s ACM file.

You know how to work on a TIF , so no further explanation about that.

To work on a PBM we have to convert it to a BMP with Flygraphics.
When the BMP is ready and reduced to 256 colors we simply convert it back to a PBM and ACT with Flygraphics.

When we want to work on a PBG we have to convert the PBG (with Flygraphics) to a BMP.
When converting a PBG to a BMP we get also a TXT file.
This TXT file contains information about the size and the number of frames.
We need this TXT file when we want to convert our changed BMP to a PBG
and it`s ACT again.

When we convert the BMP the TXT file needs to be in the same folder as the BMP.

On the screenshot you showed the flaps-positions are on a PBM and not on a PBG.

I hope this helps alittle.

Amitiés

Leen
